Battery Care and Storage

Proper Maintenance For The Murf EBike Battery

WARNING: Do not disassemble or attempt to repair the internal components of the battery. Doing so could result in severe injury or death.

The battery is a vital component of the Murf electric bike. Adhering to the guidelines in this section is essential for maximizing the battery's lifespan.

STORAGE OF THE BATTERY:

a. When not in use for a long period of time, avoid storing a fully charged battery. Instead, discharge or charge it to a state of charge (SOC) between 40% and 60%. This SOC range helps to prolong battery life.

b. For optimal battery life, it is advisable to discharge and recharge the battery every 2-3 months.

c. The most effective way to discharge the battery is by riding your bike.

d. Deep cycling is not necessary for lithium batteries and may negatively impact their overall lifespan.

e. After a period of storage, fully recharge the battery and leave it on the charger for an additional 30 minutes to 1 hour to ensure proper cell balance.

f. Do not leave the battery connected to the charger during storage or for extended periods.

g. Avoid storing the battery at temperatures above 40°C (104°F) or below -20°C (-4°F). Although lithium-ion batteries can be stored in cooler environments, they must be warmed to room temperature before charging.

h. Never charge a battery in freezing or near-freezing temperatures, as this can cause irreversible damage.

TRANSPORTING THE BATTERY:

a. Batteries should be transported (with the appropriate documentation) via truck, train, or ship, but not by airplane.

b. Ensure the battery is protected from sunlight and rain during transportation.

c. Keep the battery dry, well-ventilated, and out of direct sunlight.

d. Always handle the battery with caution.

e. Avoid throwing, tossing, or sliding the battery.

f. Avoid placing the battery under heavy objects.

g. Do not transport or store the battery near flammable, explosive, or sharp objects.

h. Optional: When transporting on a vehicle rack, remove the battery from the bike and place it inside the vehicle.
